This episode is a classic, I wish I could drop a like for each time I've watched it.
The worst thing to be left in Japan... are the women
Top 10 Saturn next!
Howard Lincoln is the original Uncle Tom of the video games industry.
To be fair to the Saturn, it's difficult for most consoles across history to beat the PlayStation's immense library. Also may have helped if Sega of America hadn't been headed by a buffoon during the Saturn.
Already wish-listing that Macross game, it looks really fun! Shame it doesn't seem to support any of the PS2 flightsticks.
i will speak for joe how do you say come at Me bro
14:05 Not to worry. You own about as many PS5 games as the most passionate PS5 fan does.
Lol. I love the fake Working Designs translation
I would've rather had THIS Macross game for PS2 than that Garbage Robotech Battlecry crap we got!
do an episode about Phoenix Games company
22:26 Well, now is worth.
BROOO THIS INTRO!!!!!!1 Never seen this yet. my man... don't know what to say. SO GOOD.
That Macross game looked really good! I wanna play it 😞
You said to play Star Fox 2 any way you can. Is that a shout-out to SNESDRUNK? He always says that.
Didn't Digital Devil Story Megami Tensei 2 also use a sound expansion chip/processor?
Do You Remember Love is a movie that came out after the original Macross. So you can say the first campaign follows the TV show and the second follows the movie. There was a rather more serious Ape Escape game that came out for the PS2 that was Japan only. It would have been nice to see it localized. Sadly, I don't remember the title.
"Now, I really don't know anything about Macross or Robotech..." Joe, if you value your sanity, keep it that way. I still haven't escaped that rabbit hole.
In France the Sega vs Nintendo war begins with the 8-bit systems. The Master System came out one month before the NES in 1987. The two systems were competitive in sells. But internationally there were only two wars, SNES vs Megadrive (Genesis), and Xbox 360 vs PS3. Otherwise it was always an ultra dominant competitor vs the others.
The Sega Saturn years would be the generation where Sega's and Capcom's relationship greatly improved and thrived! During the Genesis/Mega-Drive and Master System years, their relationship wasn't very good. It was on par with Nintendo's and Namco's bitter rivalry at the time!
I’m not a tech expert like Joe but I really don’t think the graphics on the Genesis Two Crude Dudes is a “massive hit” from the arcade version. I actually used to think (and still do) that it’s a pretty good port graphically
Wow! That is almost 10000 MEGA POWER!
The end was hilarious
I remember playing Life Force on the nes...........man that was one of my favorite games in my childhood, so many great memories.
Was Dave on this episode? Did the resolve their legal issues?
Lol there are so many, this could definitely have sequel episodes
I know I already posted, but I have a question you might be able to answer regarding Space Harrier II. I don't understand why M2 chose to expand the VDP at all? Wouldn't software scaling work so much better than what they did? Also, if you're going to expand the systems capabilities beyond what was possible before, why stop at a flickering mess? Technically, they could have given us a complete arcade'esque experience without any flicker or slowdown at all (mine has had some slowdown).
I'm sad you didn't mention the most charming part of Blazing Star: the incredible Engrish in the game. "HEY POOR PLAYER! GET IT MORE! AN EVENT ITEM COMES!"
Being that I grew up watching both Robotech and Secret of Blue Water I have no fucking clue what you're talking about saying Blue Water wasn't known outside Japan. Though to be fair we had a weird local channel that showed anime in between home shopping binges.
Don't worry about offending Macross fans, Macross fans hate everything.
Kolibery huh? (Kolibri) Anyway, arguably the best hummingbird-based shooter ever made.
Imagine seeing footage of a game for the first time and it looks so incredible that you can’t believe what you’re seeing. That’s what E3 was. You don’t really get that feeling anymore since the generation we’re in now, has been going on for 11 years. The longest generation by far.
i´try the macross one, sure looks like a great game
Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter (traaaash)
You know, Joe claims to be a huge Sega fan, yet talks more about the TG16 these days...🤔
Haha! The Turbo is definitely near and dear to me.
You could've made this entire video exclusively with SEGA games. The company has pretty loose quality control.
I'll buy the macros game
Thanks Joe great episode
Crystalis is a step below neogeo quality...... lol
Remix TV World Fighters was also released on NGC too. In Japan that is.
My favorite genre of game sack. Also, W skit.
These episodes are the best! In fact, they're a fantastic resource for people seeking new experiences on their old consoles!
@14:21..I wonder if the Genesis can do this effect!?
When Macross was made in the 80s in America, Harmony Gold made their own version called Robotech... it's basically what Power Rangers is but in anime form. Macross fans might would maybe prefer you call it a mech, but in the canon of Robotech the technology to turn into the mech form is known as, wait for it... Robotechnology.
"The laughing Sales man" looks like Peter Lorre!
I'm really impressed by your interpretation of Robotech/Macross/Do You Remember Love. Great job figuring it out, haha. It's mostly correct. That game looks better than the Robotech games we got in the US!
In 2009...Shenmu 3 released. We expect Shenmu 4 in the year 2039.
Surprised you didn't mention the other characters in Sonic Adventure. Sonic's levels aren't teaming with polish, but they're still fun. Big the Cat's levels are just fishing. Fishing... in a Sonic game.
The Salamander Collection also got a PSP release in the form of Salamander Portable. It included the same three games, plus Xexex and the Famicom version of Gradius 2. That one didn't make it out of Japan either, but it's at least region free.
Actually it's the MSX2 version, aka Nemesis 2
I remember when Dave used to say "Stupid Joe!!" 🥲 It would make my day every single time
